Women have a great variety of choices to experiment with their appearance. Make-up, accessories and clothing are just a few examples of elements we can change up every day depending on how we’re feeling. Men on the other hand don’t have as many options. For the topic of “Transgressions” I would like to focus on the idea of trespassing limits, such as this gap in male fashion choices. That’s why I thought it would be interesting to learn more about the one feature most men have in common: beards. They’re everywhere, right? But, have you ever thought about the meaning underneath all that hair? Surely, it’s more a statement than a trend. For a better understanding I’ll be interviewing the owner of Dashing Blades, a Coventry based barbershop that defends the old fashion craft of male grooming in a day and age where the fastest and most modern technologies are often considered the best option. It may also be interesting to touch on the topic of the rise of the hipster and lumbersexual fever, but most of all I would like to learn about his thoughts on the real significance of facial hair: is it a fashion, masculinity or an individuality statement?
